Cryotherapy is a way of removing unsightly warts and other benign* skin conditions, which doctors call skin lesions. The treatment uses freezing to destroy the cells of the lesion and lead to removal of the lesion itself. One key advantage of this method is that anaesthetic is unnecessary, so patients can quickly return to normal activities after treatment.

We use an instrument called a CryoPen, which can treat lesions from one to ten millimetres in size. As the name suggests, the instrument is pen-shaped, which allows us to direct the treatment with high accuracy to minimise damage to healthy tissue. This accuracy allows us to treat lesions on the face.

NEW SERVICE – MAP MY MOLE

We all have concerns from time to time about moles or marks on our bodies. We are encouraged not to delay in seeking medical help, but at the same time many people feel embarrassed about wasting the doctor’s time and therefore put it off, sometimes with unfortunate consequences.

Now you have a new way to deal with these concerns. Our new “Map My Mole” service lets us simply photograph your skin and get a rapid medical opinion on the proper action.

If the lesion can safely be treated in the clinic then we can book you in for cryotherapy, as described here. If further medical advice is advised then you can be confident to book an appointment with your doctor or dermatologist. Either way your pathway forward is now clear!

* If you would like to know more about any of our skin treatments or have a free, no obligation suitability consultation, please contact us. As we all sadly know, there are skin conditions which are not benign, and this treatment would not be suitable in these cases.
